Edwards for President?
Nobody else is posting – so I guess I will just bare the weight of getting this sweet blog rolling for now, and this is something I have been contemplating the past week.
Most Democrats are trying to decide between Hillary and Obama, and Edwards has been overlooked to a large degree. But I think that there are 2 huge reasons to endorse this guy.
First – I think we can all agree that one of the most pressing concerns of all Americans is that some asshole might drop a nuke on us one of these days. I know it scares the shit out of me. What a president is going to do about this issue should probably be all of our #1 concern, because who gives a shit about anything else if you get blown up.
Edward’s stance? The same thing I have been preaching for years. We need to get rid of all of our own nukes first, and then start using economic and political pressure to get the rest of the world on board. We try and tell countries like Iran not to build nukes – but what right do we have? Not only do we have the largest nuclear arsenal in the world, but we are the only assholes that have ever used them. And we are worried about Iran? They should be worried about us. Especially with our current policy of unprovoked attacks on the middle east. The US needs to take charge on this issue, or I am going to have to move back to Spokane – nobody is nuking that place.
Second – Edward’s is the only candidate who appears passionate about taking on special interest groups. If you are not aware, our current government is broken, and almost every politician is owned by a the special interest groups that finance their campaigns. Until this is fixed, it doesn’t matter whose policies you agree with – because the special interest groups always get their way anyways.
I don’t really jive with Edwards anti-corporate stances, but corporate America isn’t going to be doing to well if a nuke gets dropped on them either. Unless another candidate gets a clue (Obama appears to be on the anti-special interest group bandwagon) I think that I am endorsing Edwards.

I am pretty certain that a nuclear attack is going to happen in the US. I am really suprised that it hasn’t happened yet. Everyone fucking hates us and it seems like getting nuclear bombs is getting pretty easy. I have actually figured that into my life choices.
If a nuclear bomb goes off in one of the major cities I am pretty sure the economy will pretty much crumble. If that happens then stock and retirement and all that shit is going to be in trouble. That is why I am building my retirment portfolio with funny stories and life experiences. So my complete lack of planning for the future is actually a ballsy futures bet on nuclear destruction.

Couple things here.
Kevin, since John Kerry, Edwards former running mate, won’t even endorse Edwards for president (and instead just endorsed Obama), he is going to have a tough time convincing a voter to. He doesn’t seem like a leader to me. I am sure Obama will have a spot in the cabinet where he could use a good lawyer to fight special interests groups (which I think is one of the shittiest things that our democracy has going on right now).
And to Corey Guliani, Im not scared. We are not going to be nuked. How many people have been killed in the US by terrorists since 2001? Thats right, none. Just not going to happen. Now that doesn’t mean that we do not need to change our foreign policy at all, but Im just saying, it only promotes the neo-con agenda to think like that. And if it did happen, I don’t see the economy crumbling. A wartime economy is the best thing big business could get going for it (which is why on second thought, there probably will be an attack).

I was hesitant to post about my thoughts on a nuclear attack – because I don’t like it when people use fear to manipulate politics. I just am not comfortable with a weapon of that kind of destruction existing – and I think the next leader of the US should make it his responsibility to get rid of them.
Parker – you are correct – nobody has died in a terrorist attack since the last time someone died in a terrorist attack. I am not sure why that means it won’t happen again, but I hope that that complex logic is accurate.
Ideally I would like it if Obama became a little more passionate about the above mentioned issues.
I also agree that in the scenario of nuclear warfare that funny stories trump a 401K. I also recommend my stratagy of reading a lot of books about the post-apocolyptic world in preparation.

When the entire island of manhattan is destroyed by a suitcase sized nuclear bomb I dont think that is going to help the economy Mr. Montgomery.

thats probably true

Oh – on the post apocolyptic world subject – I highly recommend the book “The Postman”. Unfortunately it is nothing like the movie, but it is still pretty good. I would really appreciate it if somebody else would read this book and confirm that it is sweet. It would probably only take a week to finish.

Parker – nobody gives a shit who John Kerry endorses.

John Kerry is a pretty big fag. I do think it is pretty important though to figure out who smart/cool people are voting for. Then you can just follow them instead of doing all that boring thinking yourself. If anyone knows who people are supporting for president post it here that might be interesting to check out.
So far here is what I know
Parker Montgomery- Ron Paul
Kevin Hinton- John Edwards
Corey Johnson- Doug Stanhope
Doug Stanhope- Ron Paul

Since I can find no one of much importance, besides we the people, who has pledged their support for Ron Paul I will post a comment I just read that I thought summed up my stance well.
On the Real ID law that was just put through, a guy comments about why these laws are getting passed:

So I came home the other night all fired up to get back to my blogging roots and write a post. I then visited this website and was excited to find a slew of new material…until I actually read it. I’m not saying that it wasn’t interesting, I just wasn’t prepared for that level of sophistication and intellectuality (spell check tells me that that is indeed a word) from hoboboobies. In light of this new direction I have decided to rethink my posting ideas.
In regard to politics, I have stopped reading the paper so this is what I know: Giuliani fully intends to bring about a police state dictator-run dystopia; Hillary Clinton is a frightening bull-dike; Ron Paul seems pretty cool; Obama is a nice young man; Romney wears magic underwear; Huckabee is fucking insane (I like to use colons and semicolons but am unsure on their rules).
I apologize for my lack of knowledge about the candidates but I have no faith or trust in the government. I think (maybe hope more than think) that the political system as we know it won’t exist much longer, but not because of a nuclear apocalypse. I feel that society as a whole is beginning to wake up and realize that the promises of modern life are not being fulfilled which will eventually lead to massive change.
Mostly I just can’t get myself to care enough about subjects that really don’t affect me. I know that this sentiment is how we get shitty presidents and that it will affect me to some degree but that is how I feel.

Alright. I’ve been getting a lot of pressure to get going on this blog thing. I don’t know why you guys value my opinion so much, but thanks, I guess. I don’t really have anything new or super insightful but if nothing else I guess I’ll just be another perspective. I’ve got to start somewhere so I figure I might as well start here in politics since it is so relevant. Here it goes.
Obama is the shit. First of all, he’s black. I don’t think I really need to say anything else, but for the sake of killing a little more time before I die, I will continue. Think of all the sweet black people that have existed, Brandon Roy, Will Conroy, Dave Chappelle, Snoop. They’ve got some sweet dudes in their camp. But seriously, if he becomes the new face of America, it will go a long way towards easing the hatred towards America. First of all, he’s not an old white ignorant male. He’s young, genuine, inspirational, and he’s got a terrorist sounding name so they won’t want to nuke us. Plus, he is very anti-special interest. He’s all about cleaning up the way Washington does business. The only thing that really scares me is not a nuclear attack, but that Obama will not make it to the election. I have never been so excited about politics. When I listen to him speak on tv I find myself alone in my apartment getting fired up and yelling at the tv. Sometimes, he even makes me well up a bit. I’m a fag. When I hear him say things like “I will get special interests out of the White House”, I think, wow this mothafucka is awesome, but at the same time, I think, this nigga’s dead. People that lead and inspire the people like Obama always end up dead with some patsy taking the fall. I just hope that he lives long enough to deliver on his message of change, because I truly believe in what he’s saying and I believe that he will deliver if given the chance.
